In 1917 the October Revolution outbreaks in Russia. The documentary film of the award winning Katrin Rothe tells about those epochal days through the point of view of five great artists of that time: the writer Maxim Gorky, the painter Kazimir Malevich, the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, the critic and poet Alexandre Benois, the poetess, essayist and writer Zinaina Nikolayevna Gippius.
Virtuously animated in cut-out-animation, the film is an original and necessary point of view on one of the events that changed the world.
Katrin Rothe
Katrin Rothe studied experimental cinematography to the University of Arts Of Berlin. Her debut film "Dunkler Lippenstift macht seriöser" (2003) was nominated for the German Television Award and the Europe Prix.
Her series of documentary films in four parts “Stellmichein” received a Grimme Prize in 2007, as the documentary film of 2014 “Concrete Gold – How the Financial Crisis Comes into My Living Room”. In 2011 she was a member of the jury to the International Dokfest of Monaco.
