On the White Planet
by Hur Bum-wook – Sud Korea, 2014
(73', 73', DCP, O.V with Italian subtitles)
Everything on White Planet is black and white. Every inhabitant has pale white skin, except from Choi min-je: he's the only person whose skin bears colour, therefore he's treated like a monster. He wants to live a life just like everyone else's, but the only way to achieve that is by leaving the planet. The sky is full of beautiful colors, and he’s sure that there's someone like himout there.
Winner of the Grand Prix HAFF 2015 for feature film, the science fiction work by the debuting Hur Bum-wook is produced by the Korean Academy for Film Arts, and it stands out for its stylized graphics and visionary setting, which take into account the original style set by korean animation.
