Exibition organised by Jaqueline Berndt from the Japan Foundation
200 years from the publishing of the first Hokusai Manga volume, often considered as a forerunner of the modern japanese comic, an original exibition promoted by the Japan Foundation of Tokyo illustrates the works of the famous painter Katsushika Hokusai, author of wonderful ukiyo-e such as the well-known xilography titled The Great Wave, analysed from the viewpoint of the more recent japanese artistic productions: manga.
After its debut in Rome this traveling exhibit promoted by Japan Foundation lands in Bologna, to start a world tour dedicated to the interaction between tradition and modernity.
