Byousoku 5 Centimeters wins the Lancia Platinum Grand Prize
The winner of the Lancia Platinum Grand Prize, the Future Film Festival award for the best movie in animation or with special effects, is Byousoku 5 Centimeters (5 Centimeters per Second: A Chain of Short Stories about their Distance) by Makoto Shinkai. A special mention has been assigned to Tekkonkinkreet by Michael Arias. Here more info.
Day Six
This is the last day of Future Film Festival 2008!
Last scheduling of in and out competition premieres: from Vexille by Fumihiko Sori, the new completely digital production by the director of Ping Pong after the success of Appleseed, to the closing event The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep by Jay Russell, whose special effects are cured by Weta Digital Producion Company. Moreover, Matt Aitken, VFX Supervisor for Weta Digital, will be a guest of the festival to present the making of the film. In the section Future of Toons, new episodes of South Park and The Boondocks will be presented, while in the late afternoon, the prize-giving ceremony Lancia Platinum Grand Prize, Future Film Short Groupama Prize and Autodesk Digital Award will take place…see you next year!

Day Five
At the fifth day of scheduling, Future Film Festival uses the occasion to meet prestigious guests and to present interesting round tables. Directors Juan Padron (Cuba), Juan Antin (Argentina), Pablo Angeles (Mexico) and Otto Guerra (Brasile) will meet the audience of FFF on the occasion of the tribute to Latin American animation cinema; Jim Capobianco from Pixar will present in worldwide premiere the short Your Friend the Rat and, in order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of FFF, the writer Bruce Sterling, Matt Aitken from Weta Digital and Vicki Dobbs Beck from IL&M will meet at one of the round tables to discuss about future of new technologies.
Late, this night, as a tribute to Toei Animation will be possibile to watch the first film ever directed by Isao Takahata with the collaboration of Hayao Miyazaki, The Little Norse Prince.

Day Four
Today, the audience of FFF will be very busy in following the intense forth-day scheduling of the festival, made of lots of premieres, meetings and special events!
Mark Holmes from Pixar will present to the audience the making of the short Lifted, Chris Wedge and Mike Thurmeier from Blue Sky will introduce the worldwide premiere of the first images of Horton Hears a Who! Among the premieres presented: Tekkonkinkreet by Michael Arias, the new sperimental film by the proverbial Studio 4°C, inpired to the manga written by the most interesting author of the time, Taiyo Matsumoto (before the projection a sushi aperitive will be served!), De Profundis by Miguelanxo Prado, an elegant animated mute film.
And so on, with a long series of shorts, meetings, dj sets and special programmes!
Day Three
Third day of Future Film Festival.
A new selection of premieres coming from all over the world: from the Japanese Byousoku 5 Centimeters by Makoto Shinkai, which marks the come back of the great director celebrated for Voices of a Distant Star to the Spanish Nocturna by Víctor Maldonado and Adrián García, a “dark” film about magic and rules of the night world. Late, this night a catchy selection of curious erotic shorts in animation: from those directed by Bob Godfrey to those by Bruno Bozzetto and Guido Manuli.
Day Two
Second day of Future Film Festival. Starting today FFF full-time scheduling!
Among special guests of the day: Toshio Hirata, director of the FFF2008 opening title, produced by MadHouse, who will present the new opening title to the audience. Industrial Light & Magic has come back to FFF with its trade director, Vicki Dobbs Beck, who will guide the audience to the discovery of the most important societies of the world in the field of visual effects. Besides, a great amount of premieres, the ones in competition for the Lancia Platinum Grand Prize, the others out of competition, are waiting for you: from La Antena by Esteban Sapir, a political allegory which reminds Orwel’s works, to Highlander: the Search for Vengeance by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, the sci-fi sequel of the adventures of the celebrated live character Highlander …and much more!
Day One
Future Film Festival 2008 is starting! For the six days of scheduling, the festival has set up a programme full of premieres of films in amimation or live action with special effects, special guests, tributes to important cinematographies of the past and unequalled special events.
The opening film is the premiere of the funny, brazilian film Wood&Stock: Sexo, Oregano & Rock’n'Roll by Otto Guerra.
Comic and flashing work in 2D animation, the film tells the story of Wood and Stock, two veteran hippies unable to adapt to contemporary life.

The entry form of the Digital Award 9th edition is now on-line.
Autodesk is the new and prestigious partner of the event. The company is the official licensee of the most popular softwares for graphics, 3D, architecture ad design.

FFF2008 foreseeing at Venice!
Just few days more to know some anticipation on Future Film Festival 2008!
On September 4th, it take place the press conference during the la 64. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica with the FFF’s directors (Giulietta Fara e Oscar Cosulich), the regional representative for culture activities Alberto Ronchi, the provincial representative for culture activities Simona Lembi and Angelo Guglielmi the Bologna city’s representative for culture activities.
The rendez-vous is for September 4th, 12,30 at Lancia Cafè in Hotel Westin Excelsior.
Moreover the FFF is at Venice with its own stand and a huge pack of initiatives.
